Job Description

A local Village government is seeking a part-time Building & Fire Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer to join our team.

Schedule:

Three days per week, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with on-call availability. What you'll do: Review building plans and issue permits and Certificates of Occupancy Conduct field inspections for compliance with the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code Enforce local codes, laws, and ordinances, and take action to resolve violations What we're looking for (one of the following): One (1) year of paid experience in building construction, a building trade, or a role requiring familiarity with municipal building and/or zoning codes; or One (1) year of paid experience conducting field inspections or investigations; or An associate's degree or higher in Building Technology, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a comparable field — fully qualifying on its own

Certification:

Must hold New York State Code Enforcement Official certification, or complete the required basic training and obtain certification within the timeframe set by 19 NYCRR Part 1208. Annual in-service training required to maintain certification.

Also required:

A valid New York State driver's license at appointment and maintained throughout employment. License status is subject to verification. Steady part-time hours, meaningful community impact, and the opportunity to shape a growing municipal building department.

Pay:

$35.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 18.0 per week
