DESCRIPTION
The Building Official performs complex, technical inspections and reviews and is responsible for managing the Building Services Division. This position will supervise and manage the activities of the Building Division by administering the adopted City Building Codes and Development regulations under the supervision of the Director of Development Services. The Building Official will monitor, learn, and administer all laws and trends related to local, state, and international building codes and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field plus four (4) years of previous experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Floodplain Manager certification or must be obtained within eighteen (18) months of hire. Certified Public Manager Certification is preferred. Must possess and maintain Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners License. Must possess eleven (11) ICC certifications minimum to start. Certifications must align with the following priority order for determining equivalent combinations of education and experience: Combination Commercial Inspector, Combination Residential Inspector, Plans Examiner, Energy Code Inspector and Certified Building Official. National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700 is required or must be obtained within three (3) months of hire. Must possess a valid Class "C" driver s license. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR check.
