Job Description
Overview Join our team as a CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Field Technician and become a vital part of ensuring the quality, safety, and durability of construction projects. In this energetic role, you will perform on-site testing and inspection of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, soil, and masonry to verify compliance with industry standards. Your hands-on work will directly contribute to the success of infrastructure development, construction quality assurance, and project integrity. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills while working outdoors on diverse construction sites. Responsibilities Conduct field testing of construction materials including concrete, asphalt, soil, and masonry in accordance with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), and ACI (American Concrete Institute) standards. Collect accurate data through sampling, measurements, and visual inspections to assess material properties and quality. Perform quality control inspections during various phases of construction projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications and industry standards. Operate testing equipment such as slump cones, moisture meters, nuclear gauges, and other specialized tools efficiently and safely. Document test results meticulously using Microsoft Office applications or specialized software; prepare detailed reports for project teams and clients. Communicate findings clearly with clients, contractors, and project managers to support decision-making processes. Maintain safety protocols at all times while working outdoors in varying weather conditions on active construction sites. Requirements Prior experience in construction or materials testing is highly preferred; laboratory experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of construction materials including concrete, asphalt, soil, and masonry; familiarity with ASTM standards is desirable. Basic math skills including numeracy for measurements, calculations, and analysis tasks. Construction site experience with outdoor work environments; ability to navigate active job sites safely. Excellent attention to detail for quality inspection and data collection accuracy. Good communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to follow detailed procedures according to ACI Standards, AASHTO standards, ASTM standards, and contract requirements. Physical capability to perform manual testing activities involving lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in outdoor conditions.
