Unintech Consulting Engineers, Inc. , has been providing Civil, Structural, and Survey services across the State of Texas for over 30 years. We support both public and private sector clients with infrastructure planning, engineering, and construction services. Our expertise includes water and sewer replacement, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, urban and rural street plans and site development, TxDOT, City and County roadways and bridges, precast structures including parking garages, structural design of buildings, supports, retaining walls, foundations, and analysis of existing structures, residential lot and slab design, as well as topographic, ROW, and construction surveys for TxDOT, municipalities, and private clients. UNINTECH
is seeking a highly motivated and energetic self-starter looking for the opportunity to grow and join our team as a Field Inspector. This is a field-based role ideal for someone who enjoys construction inspection, problem-solving, and working outside.Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Civil Division Director, you will provide expertise to support civil inspection projects. This position will initially support the Civil Division, with the opportunity to grow into inspection support for UNINTECH's structural, residential, and survey divisions.Work may include:
Field Inspection & Quality Control- Inspects city infrastructure including streets, alleys, sidewalks, irrigation systems, and storm drain systems.
- Verifies right-of-way permit compliance for any construction impacting city property.
- Reviews and interprets contract blueprints, technical specifications, and project schedules.
- Enforces OSHA rules and city safety standards across active construction zones.
- Coordinate field samplings and deliveries to testing laboratories.
- Coordinate Material Testing & Approval process.
- Cross-checks physical materials on site against approved submittals and standards. Financial & Project Documentation
- Maintains daily logs documenting on-site progress, contractor headcounts, weather impacts, and field errors.
- Manages the Schedule of Values (SOV) by physically measuring and tracking installed item quantities.
- Maintains the project quantity book to calculate running estimates of actual construction costs.
- Approves monthly payment recommendations for contractors based on verified work completed.
- Compile redline as-built conditions deferring from bid document.
- Perform final walk through with engineer and contractor, generate Final Punch List items, and confirm completion of all punch list items.
- Recapitulation of final quantities. Coordination & Public Relations
- Attend pre-construction meetings alongside city engineers, consultants, contractors, and utility representatives.
- Coordinate design conflicts by discussing blueprint errors directly with engineers and site foremen.
- Coordinates with traffic sections and barricade vendors to plan safe detour routes and proper road signage.
- Address property owner complaints and general public inquiries regarding disruptive construction activities.
Education and Experience:
- Common Math and use of a tape measure
- Ability to read structural and civil engineers' blueprints, cross-sections, and contract specifications.
- Knowledge of standard material tracking and learning tech data uploads.
- Willing to travel to the city of Austin and the cities surrounding the San Antonio area, possibly further
- Must have a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License and good standing driving record.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Highly Valued Certifications (Preferred Qualifications)
Safety:
OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.Concrete & Materials:
American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Testing Technician Grade I.Asphalt:
Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TxAPA) Level 1B certification.Environmental/Traffic:
Work Zone Traffic Control/Barricade training certification.- Stormwater Compliance / SWP3 certifications.
