This role performs tasks involving physical labor at road/highway sites and heavy construction projects. ( This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
Essential Position Functions:
Confirm bore path with install foreman/management and drill operator (including walking the bore path.) Perform job site analysis (JSA) including completion of any required documentation. Assess current drill path conditions for safe operation and monitor for changes. Inspect and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards. Ensure there are proper clearances to install cabling per standards. Record the depth of the tool head as required. Ensure the drill head is in a proper position at the exit pit to connect cabling. Spot for utilities and verify that locates are correct. Locate the drill head from point A to point B without hitting any existing utilities at the correct depth. Prepare and utilize the correct mud mixture. Complete daily inspections on bore equipment. Operate a variety of hand and power tools. Familiarity with mini excavator, skid steer, and drop trench machinery is preferred. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Other duties as required.
Additional Expectations:
Construction work is project-driven and may vary in availability based on client demand and workload. When role-specific assignments are not available, employees may be required to perform other related duties within the construction or telecommunications field. These duties may include, but are not limited to, ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assisting with other company projects as assigned. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED is preferred. 2+ years of experience with directional drill locating is preferred. Must have demonstrated knowledge of directional drilling and locating. Must possess knowledge of drilling practices in various soil conditions and mixing drilling mud. Must have knowledge of traffic control standards. Must have knowledge of health and safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Must have knowledge of utility depths and placement. Must be able to read and interpret construction blueprints. Must be able to dig and pothole as necessary. Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills. Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer. Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner. Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills. Must be able to work alone, and with a team. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred. Must possess a valid Driver's License. CDL is preferred. Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, peers, et al.
Work Environment :
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those of a standard office environment. Must be able to work in loud, noise filled environments out in the field. The position requires working independently, as well as part of a team. This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others daily. Frequent use of a computer is necessary. This position requires use of all general office equipment.
