Job Description

Water Well Driller Job Summary The Water Well Driller is responsible for leading drilling operations, overseeing crew members, and ensuring the successful completion of complex water well projects. This role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects from start to finish while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise drilling crews on job sites Operate advanced drilling rigs and specialized equipment Plan and execute drilling operations based on geological data and project specifications Install and oversee installation of well casings, screens, and pumping systems Troubleshoot drilling challenges such as difficult soil, rock formations, or equipment failures Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations Train and mentor junior drillers and crew members Coordinate with engineers, hydrologists, and project managers Maintain detailed drilling logs, reports, and documentation Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance Enforce strict safety standards and conduct safety briefings Experience Requirements 5-10+ years of water well drilling experience Proven experience operating a variety of drilling rigs (rotary, cable tool, auger, etc.) Demonstrated leadership or crew supervision experience Experience working with different geological conditions and water table systems Strong background in well construction, pump installation, and system development Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, site plans, and geological reports Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred) Valid driver's license (CDL required) State Water Well Driller License OSHA or other safety certifications preferred Skills & Competencies Advanced mechanical and troubleshooting skills Strong leadership and team management abilities Critical thinking and problem-solving in field conditions Excellent communication and coordination skills High attention to safety and regulatory compliance Working Conditions Outdoor work in challenging environments and weather conditions Frequent travel to job sites Long hours, including early mornings or extended shifts Exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and dust Salary Range Depending on experience, certifications, and location Preferred Certifications Licensed Water Well Contractor/Driller Commercial Driver's License (CDL) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Certification First Aid/CPR Certification Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
