Job Description

Water Well Service Technician Job Summary The Water Well Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing water well systems, including pumps, motors, pressure tanks, and control systems. This role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude, fieldwork experience, and the ability to diagnose issues efficiently to ensure reliable water supply for residential, agricultural, and commercial clients. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair water well systems and components Install, service, and replace submersible and jet pumps Troubleshoot electrical control systems, wiring, VFD controls and pressure switches Pull and reinstall pumps and piping using service trucks with hoists Perform routine maintenance on wells, pressure tanks, and water conditioning systems Test water systems to ensure proper flow, pressure, and quality Maintain accurate service records, reports, and work orders Communicate with customers regarding system issues and solutions Ensure compliance with safety standards and local regulations Maintain and service tools, vehicles, and equipment Experience Requirements 2-5+ years of experience in water well service, plumbing, electrical, or related field Hands-on experience with pump systems, pressure tanks, and controls Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues Familiarity with well depths, water systems, and basic geology preferred Experience operating service rigs, hoists, or pulling units is a plus Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred) Valid driver's license (CDL required) Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical repair Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals Basic computer or mobile device skills for reporting and documentation Skills & Competencies Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Mechanical and electrical aptitude Ability to work independently in field conditions Good customer service and communication skills Time management and problem-solving abilities Safety-focused mindset Working Conditions Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Frequent lifting (50-100 lbs) and physically demanding tasks Work in confined spaces or around water systems Travel to residential, rural, and job site locations On-call or emergency service work may be required Salary Range Typically ranges from $25.00-35.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications Preferred Certifications Water Well Pump Installer License (varies by state) Commercial Driver's License (CDL) OSHA safety certification Electrical or plumbing certifications
