Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator and become a vital part of innovative underground utility installation projects. Duties Operate horizontal directional drilling machines to install underground utilities such as water, sewer, gas, and electrical lines Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance Coordinate with project managers, utility locators, and other construction team members to plan and execute drilling operations effectively Utilize utility locating equipment to accurately identify existing underground infrastructure before drilling begins Follow all federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently throughout each project phase Assist with construction site setup, including grading, excavation, loader operation, backhoe operation, and excavator use as needed Maintain detailed records of daily operations, safety checks, and equipment maintenance logs Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and directional drills in a construction environment Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on construction equipment Familiarity with utility locating techniques and tools to prevent damage during drilling operations Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to all safety protocols on-site Construction site experience with utility work, excavation, grading, and utility installation projects Ability to operate heavy equipment safely while maintaining productivity standards Construction experience involving utility installation or directional drilling is highly desirable This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to advance their careers in heavy equipment operation within the construction industry.
