We're National Fiber Construction — a 35-year family-owned outfit out of Whitmore Lake running a well-maintained Ditch Witch fleet and Underground Magnetics locating systems. Small crews, steady local work across SE Michigan, no churn-and-burn. Our rigs aren't fresh off the lot — but they're serviced, they run, and you won't sit around waiting on parts. Our locating gear is current UM equipment, and we run our own hydrovac.

The deal:

$27-$33/hr based on experience, with annual reviews and merit raises 4×10 schedule — 3-day weekends, every weekend Paid drive time, PTO, paid holidays, and paid sick leave Medical, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan with company match CDL training paid by us — we promote from within Local work only. Home every night, no overnight travel.

What we need:

2+ years operating HDD rigs or locating in telecom/utility construction Can read prints, bore plans, utility locates, and shot sheets Hands-on with Underground Magnetics, or Subsite tracking — or Ditch Witch bore rigs Solid understanding of 811 process and underground utility ID Valid driver's license; willing to obtain a Michigan Chauffeur's License within 30 days (it's a quick SOS upgrade — we'll walk you through it) CDL A preferred, not required — we'll help you get it Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Able to lift 50 lbs, walk bore paths, and work outdoors in all Michigan weather Bonus points for: FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) build experience Boring near live gas, electric, water, or sewer Hydrovac, excavator, or support equipment experience Traffic control or flagger certification Mud mixing / drilling fluid knowledge We build fiber for major carriers and municipal clients — the work is steady and it isn't going anywhere.
