Full-Time We are currently seeking dedicated, safety-minded team members to join our underground fiber infrastructure team. We have openings for both an experienced HDD Drill Operator and an entry-to-mid-level Construction Laborer . Position 1: HDD Drill OperatorOverview The HDD Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating horizontal directional drilling equipment to install underground conduit and fiber infrastructure. This role requires technical expertise, strong coordination with the locator and crew, and a commitment to safety, quality, and production standards.
Operate HDD rigs (e.g., Vermeer, Ditch Witch) to complete pilot bores, reaming, and pullback operations. Execute bore paths according to approved bore plans, profiles, and specifications. Adjust drilling techniques based on soil conditions, obstructions, and site constraints. Coordinate closely with the HDD Locator to maintain proper depth, alignment, and clearance. Oversee drilling fluid (mud) usage and bore integrity. Safely maneuver a vibratory plow (walk-behind, ride-on, or attachment-based) to directly lay pipe/cable underground without open trenching.
Equipment & Safety:
Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on drilling equipment. Ensure all operations comply with company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Lead job briefings related to drilling operations and site hazards. Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are identified.
Documentation & Communication:
Complete drilling logs, bore records, and daily production reports. Communicate progress, issues, and equipment needs to supervision. Support redlines and field documentation as required. Ideal Background & Qualifications Prior experience as an HDD Operator in telecom, utility, or underground construction. Strong understanding of bore planning, drilling techniques, and underground safety. Ability to read construction drawings and bore profiles. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred depending on role responsibilities. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Position 2: Underground Construction Laborer Overview The Laborer plays a critical role in supporting underground fiber construction operations, assisting HDD crews, aerial crews, and general field teams in the safe and efficient installation of conduit and fiber infrastructure. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and production standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Field Support & Construction Activities:
Assist HDD Operators, Locators, and crew members with daily job site tasks. Perform general labor duties including digging, trenching, hand hole placement, and job site preparation. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed. Support conduit placement, fiber installation, and restoration activities. Maintain clean and organized job sites throughout the duration of the project.
Equipment & Safety:
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times. Participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings. Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment. Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately. Assist with traffic control setup and maintenance when required.
Teamwork & Production Support:
Work closely with crew members to ensure projects stay on schedule. Take direction from Foreman, Operators, and Supervisors to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Support production goals while maintaining quality standards. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong team-first mindset. Ideal Background & Qualifications Previous experience in construction, telecom, utility, or outdoor labor preferred, but not required. Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions. Willingness to learn and grow within the telecommunications construction industry. Valid driver's license preferred. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work in a team environment.
Pay:
$20.00 - $35.00 per hour
