Horizontal Directional Drill Operator

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities and infrastructure efficiently and safely. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and construction site experience will be essential in ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. Responsibilities Operate horizontal directional drilling machines with precision, ensuring accurate alignment and depth for underground utility installations. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery to maintain optimal performance. Assist with the setup and breakdown of construction sites, including site preparation using heavy equipment like bulldozers and loaders. Follow safety protocols rigorously, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment for all team members. Collaborate with project managers and crew members to interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications for each project. Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and safety checks to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Support other construction activities as needed, including operating additional machinery such as graders or water trucks to facilitate project progress. Experience Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment in a construction or utility installation environment. Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery. Demonstrated ability to work safely on construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations and procedures. Strong understanding of construction processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings and plans. Familiarity with underground utility installation techniques using horizontal directional drilling methods.
