Position Overview As a Commercial Drywall Hanger and Finisher at BR Systems, you will install and finish drywall on commercial renovation projects. Although this position includes drywall hanging, its primary emphasis is high-quality drywall finishing. The ideal candidate can consistently produce smooth, paint-ready surfaces, complete repairs and patches that blend seamlessly with existing finishes, and deliver Level 4 and Level 5 finishes when specified. Responsibilities Tape, bed, coat, sand, and finish drywall joints to the level required by the project specifications. Produce consistent Level 4 finishes and complete Level 5 skim coating when required. Finish fasteners, inside and outside corners, control joints, corner bead, and specialty drywall trims. Feather and sand joint compound to create smooth, uniform surfaces ready for primer and paint. Identify and correct imperfections, including ridges, tool marks, bubbles, cracks, visible joints, and uneven surfaces. Patch and repair existing drywall so repaired areas blend seamlessly with surrounding surfaces. Hang drywall on walls, ceilings, soffits, and other commercial assemblies. Measure, cut, fit, and fasten gypsum board accurately while minimizing waste. Install standard, moisture-resistant, mold-resistant, abuse-resistant, and fire-rated gypsum board as specified. Review drawings, specifications, and finish requirements before beginning work. Inspect framing, substrates, and previously installed drywall for conditions that could affect the final finish. Protect adjacent surfaces and maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the finishing process. Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, painters, and other trades to maintain schedule and quality. Meet established production goals and project schedules without sacrificing workmanship. Follow all safety requirements when working from ladders, scaffolding, stilts, and aerial lifts. Properly clean, maintain, and store drywall tools and equipment. Proactively report material shortages, defective work, or jobsite conditions that may affect quality or productivity. Desired Skill Sets Strong commercial drywall finishing experience, with finishing as the candidate's primary trade. Demonstrated ability to consistently produce paint-ready Level 4 finishes. Experience completing Level 5 skim coating and other high-end finish work. Proficiency in taping, bedding, coating, sanding, feathering, and blending drywall repairs. Competence in drywall hanging, including walls, ceilings, soffits, and fire-rated assemblies. Knowledge of joint compounds, setting-type compounds, drying times, environmental conditions, and proper application methods. Proficiency with drywall knives, pans, hawks, sanders, corner tools, banjos, automatic taping tools, and related equipment. Ability to identify and correct finish defects before surfaces are turned over for painting. Ability to interpret commercial drawings, details, and project specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, consistent workmanship. Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a commercial construction team.
