Job Overview A well-established heavy manufacturing company in the Anniston, Alabama area is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its plant maintenance team. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, installing, and testing electrical and electronic systems on industrial plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical troubleshooting skills, experience reading schematics, and a working knowledge of industrial motor controls. Key Responsibilities Perform electrical and electronic maintenance and repairs on industrial plant equipment. Diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools. Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, blueprints, equipment labels, and technical manuals. Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and repair needs. Conduct routine inspections and testing of plant electrical systems. Plan and complete the installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, motor-control components, and other electrical devices. Troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, motor starters, overload protection, and industrial motor-control systems. Test wiring, equipment, fixtures, and circuit continuity using voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, and related testing devices. Perform bench repairs on electrical equipment. Ensure electrical installations and repairs comply with the National Electrical Code and applicable safety standards. Document completed maintenance and repair work according to established quality procedures. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or elevated areas when necessary. Report unsafe equipment conditions and advise management when continued operation could create a hazard. Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements: Associate degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance; or At least two years of related industrial electrical maintenance experience.
Additional requirements include:
Experience reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and ladder diagrams. Knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory and simple circuits. Experience with industrial motor controls, motor starters, and overload protection. Ability to diagnose and repair industrial electrical problems. Experience using electrical testing equipment and hand tools. Basic computer skills. Ability to successfully complete verbal and hands-on technical assessments. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform climbing, standing, walking, balancing, and stooping. Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Heavy industrial manufacturing experience. Formal industrial electrical maintenance training. Current electrician license or identification required by applicable regulations. Experience working under NEC, ISO, and plant safety standards.
