Job Description

  • Day/Swing Shift Position
Summary:
Responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems while following safety rules and regulations. The Mechanic/Electrician is also required to maintain all equipment to the required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment/electrical failures. Key Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Mechanical Repair, Troubleshooting, and Installation
  • Install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to find irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Perform assigned work orders via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Diagnose mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions
  • Reads, interprets, and uses blueprints for welding and fabrication.
  • Reacts with urgency to fix or solve mechanical and facility problems to avoid prolonged downtime
  • Maintain communication with operators, coordinators, and/or supervisors while performing mechanical related tasks in their area
  • Continually gain understanding of plant maintenance type work and knowledge. 2. Electrical Repair and Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including 480V, 120V, and 24V controls.
  • Bend, install, and secure conduct for electrical wiring per code and facility standards.
  • Install, align, wire and test 480V motors, ensuring proper electrical connections and rotation.
  • Program, configure and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for plant equipment.
  • Maintain, diagnose and repair control panels, PLC-controlled systems, sensor arrays, and motor starters.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components on all plant equipment.
  • Support upgrades to automation systems and assist with integration of new technology.
  • Identify opportunities to improve electrical safety, equipment reliability, and energy efficiency. 3. Preventative Maintenance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machines.
  • Performs all other preventive maintenance according to schedule
  • Perform pre-harvest equipment maintenance and preparation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Use CMMS software to perform assigned work orders. 4. Inventory
  • Maintain inventory for tools and special equipment and record any discrepancies.
  • Assist in conducting cycle counts regularly and help identify items to keep them from going below low inventory levels. 5. Safety
  • Ensure safety devices on machinery function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Follow all safety protocols when repairing equipment.
  • Comply with all Company Safety Policies and Cal-OSHA regulations.
  • Attend and participate in safety tailgates and company safety programs and trainings. 6. Quality Control
  • Uphold quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and compliance with industry standards.
  • Adhere to all GMP, Food Safety Program, and Allergen Programs.

This job has no supervisor responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED, required. At least 3 years of relevant experience in a industrial or manufacturing maintenance role. Experience welding using MIG, TIG, and ARC processes. At least 1 year of Electrical troubleshooting experience, required. SKILLS
  • Mechanical and Electrical aptitude
  • Knowledge in working with nut processing equipment (graders, laser optic sorters, automated bagging lines, palletizers)
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-changing production environments
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and work order processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisor, and/or manager.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and immediately take corrective action.
  • Familiarity with operating touch screen controls on equipment.
  • Ability to pass forklift certification and aerial lift certification.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn computer software program.
  • LOTO and Confined Space knowledge.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees are regularly required to stand, use hands to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to walk. Employee is frequently required to go up and down stairs. Employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up 50lbs, and occasionally 100lbs with assistance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work Saturday, Sunday, Holidays, and other shifts or overtime, as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Pay:
$32.00 - $42.00 per hour
