An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description
K Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Essential duties are those that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation. Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement. Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments. Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques. Installs and maintains various types of motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers. Interprets blueprints; works from sketches or verbal instructions. Plans electrical secondary system additions and modifications. May perform the work of lower level electricians. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Reads, employs and updates electrical panel schedules and building or system blueprints. Presents self in a professional manner, provides open and honest communication, and demonstrates respect to co-workers and customers. Prepares special reports and correspondence as requested by supervisor.Qualifications :
Current General Electrical Certification issued by the Department of Industrial Relationship, Division of Apprenticeship Standards. High School Diploma or equivalent.
