187854 Position Summary The experienced Mine Electrician (MSHA certified) is responsible for independently maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing electrical systems that support safe and efficient mining operations. This position requires strong technical ability, sound decision-making, and strict adherence to MSHA, NEC, and CFR electrical regulations. Experienced electricians serve as technical resources on shift and may provide guidance to entry-level electricians.
Site Equipment Overview:
Electrical maintenance supports the following primary production equipment: Komatsu 830E haul trucks (AC & DC drive systems) BE1300 dragline BE495 electric mining shovel
Career Path:
Experienced electricians may progress to Senior or High-Voltage Mine Electrician roles with additional experience and MSHA High Voltage certification. Experience Level Intermediate Primary Responsibilities and Duties Troubleshoot electrical faults in power distribution, control circuits, and AC/DC drive systems Maintain and repair electrical systems on Komatsu 830E haul trucks, BE1300 dragline, and BE495 shovel Install, maintain, and test motors, starters, transformers, MCCs, substations, grounding systems, and high-voltage components Perform electrical testing including voltage, current, insulation resistance (megger), and high-potential testing Execute preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and equipment failures Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and electrical logs Verify contractor electrical work complies with MSHA, NEC, and site standards
Safety & Leadership Expectations:
Enforce lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices Identify and mitigate electrical hazards associated with mobile and stationary mining equipment Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example Assist with training and mentoring of entry-level electricians Qualifications MSHA Low & Medium Voltage Electrical Certification 3+ years of industrial or mining electrical experience Experience with AC/DC drive systems, high-voltage distribution, and large electrically powered mining equipment Working knowledge of NEC and CFR 30 Part 77 requirements Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot from electrical schematics and prints Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Requirements Able to meet all physical requirements. Must have all required tools Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft) Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
Compensation Range:
