15 Lightyears is seeking an experienced Chief Electrician (EC Qualifier) to lead our growing commercial electrical division. This is a hands-on leadership role for a licensed electrical professional who enjoys mentoring others, providing technical guidance, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. As the Chief Electrician, you will serve as the company's Electrical Contractor (EC) Qualifier while providing technical leadership and oversight for our electrical field operations. Working closely with electricians, project managers, and company leadership, you will oversee daily operations, mentor field personnel, promote quality and safety, and support the successful execution of commercial electrical and solar projects. This position maintains a regular presence on active job sites throughout Central Florida, providing guidance, resolving technical challenges, performing quality inspections, and ensuring projects are completed to company standards. While the electrical team performs the majority of installation work, the Chief Electrician is expected to provide hands-on support when needed to ensure project success.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on business needs.

Serve as the company's Electrical Contractor (EC) Qualifier, ensuring compliance with all applicable licensing requirements, electrical codes, and industry standards. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electricians and apprentices by providing technical guidance, coaching, and support. Maintain a consistent presence on active job sites to oversee field operations, monitor workmanship, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. Provide technical direction and resolve complex electrical and construction-related issues that arise during project execution. Oversee commercial electrical and solar installations to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local jurisdictions, and company standards. Review and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents to guide field operations. Coordinate electrical layouts, project sequencing, material requirements, and installation activities with project managers and field personnel. Perform quality control inspections and verify completed work meets project specifications and company expectations. Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, customers, and other trades to ensure successful project delivery. Promote and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies while fostering a culture of safety and accountability. Assist with estimating, project planning, scheduling, and material coordination as needed. Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance development of electrical personnel. Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to company leadership. Provide hands-on field support when necessary to assist the team and ensure successful project completion.
Qualifications:
Active Florida EC License preferred. OR active Journeyman Electrician license with qualifications to obtain a Florida EC license. Minimum 5 years of supervisory or foreman experience on commercial electrical job sites. Extensive commercial electrical construction experience required. Strong knowledge of NEC codes, commercial electrical systems, and safe installation practices. Experience with switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, conduit installation, and commercial electrical infrastructure. Solar electrical experience is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Basic computer skills preferred. Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Valid Florida Driver's License with safe driving record required.
