An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Job Description Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to provide skilled electrical and maintenance work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, motors, and components. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Supervises the installation and repair of wiring and associated electrical components. Maintains motors and other types of electrical equipment. Operates bucket and pick-up trucks, various kinds of meters and hand tools in order to perform electrical and general maintenance work. Trains Electrician Is in all aspects of the work. Sets up, tests, operates, assesses, and repairs equipment required for live events, such as in person press conferences and video conferences, such as WebEx. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a maintenance electrician course at a recognized vocational or trade school. Two (2) years of experience in electrical maintenance work An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history. Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check. Must complete the annual security awareness training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery. Electrical shock; Heights.
