Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Solar Electrician to join our dynamic renewable energy team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting photovoltaic (solar) systems across various sites, ensuring all electrical work complies with safety standards and technical specifications. Your expertise will help advance our mission to promote sustainable energy solutions while providing top-quality service to clients. Responsibilities Install photovoltaic systems on residential, commercial, and industrial rooftops and ground-mounted sites, following detailed blueprints and schematics. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate system installation. Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify issues within solar power systems and resolve them efficiently. Perform wiring, fixture installation, and connection of low voltage and high voltage electrical components in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and safety equipment to complete installations safely and effectively on construction sites or outdoor environments. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association) standards for electrical safety procedures and NEC regulations. Collaborate with construction teams on roofing, framing, and other site-specific tasks related to photovoltaic system installation. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including inspection reports, troubleshooting logs, and compliance records. Adhere strictly to electrical safety procedures during all phases of installation and maintenance activities. Support ongoing system testing, commissioning, and quality assurance processes to guarantee optimal performance of solar energy systems. Qualifications Proven experience as a commercial electrician with a strong background in electrical work within construction or outdoor environments. Hands-on experience working as a solar technician or in the renewable energy sector is highly preferred. Solid understanding of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems used in photovoltaic installations. Ability to read electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately. Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) standards for electrical safety procedures applicable to solar projects. Experience with photovoltaic system installation, troubleshooting electrical systems, and diagnostics tools. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other construction equipment safely. Construction site experience including roofing work or related outdoor construction activities is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently. Valid certifications in electrical work; additional certifications related to solar or renewable energy are a plus.
