An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent State of Michigan Journeyman or Master Electrician license Effective analytical and problem solving skills Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and a good driving record Possess good verbal and written communication skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams Must show evidence of good attendance and punctuality Record of demonstrating initiative, efficiency and timely follow through on responsibilities. Candidate must be able to work independently and achieve and maintain job productivity Record of cooperative and positive interactions with administration, staff, students, parents and/or customers Must be able and willing to work overtime and respond to emergencies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in K-12 or similar educational facility environments Familiarity with fire safety systems, energy management systems, building automation, and low-voltage controls
TYPICAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
The responsibilities listed below are subject to change to meet the emerging needs of the School and the District. Report to the Director of Operations regarding the status of equipment and systems, and regularly update the work order system for completed tasks and projects Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including panels, circuits, lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, and control devices Install new electrical wiring, conduit, devices, and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes Diagnose and correct electrical issues in building systems such as HVAC, fire alarm, intercom, and security systems in coordination with other trades Perform preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure and maintain accurate service records Respond to work orders and emergency calls in a timely and professional manner Ensure all work complies with current safety standards and District policies Support capital improvement and renovation projects by reviewing plans, coordinating with contractors, and assisting with commissioning Order required supplies to allow timely and efficient performance of maintenance items Observe fire and safety precautions and recognized operating and maintenance procedures Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, work related literature, manuals, blueprints and written instructions Have and maintain ability to lift weight of up to 100 lbs., climb ladders and scaffolding, work from heights and work outside year around. Shall be physically capable of performing all necessary tasks; stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting and crawling Compete required District on-line training Comply with all OSHA work requirements Work collaboratively with outside contractors and report their progress to the Director of Operations Responsible for use and storage of operating power tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner Work cooperatively with all administrative staff, employees, building principals and the public Perform snow removal from a district provided vehicle when needed Work independently with little or no supervision Demonstrate regular and predictable in-person attendance Be responsible for and perform any other duties as may be assigned This position reports to the Director of Operations.
