Job Description
ALL US CITIZENS DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY
This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation. Duties Major duties include but are not limited to: Install, modify, maintain, and repair electrical systems including power and lighting circuits, alarm and control systems, panel boards, motors, transformers, switches, distribution panels, and related devices to ensure continuous and safe operations for the health care facility. Plan and lay out work from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and specifications. Calculate conduit, wire, and load requirements. Diagnose problems and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment. Identify and correct electrical deficiencies and hazards using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, testing, cleaning, inspecting, lubricating, and adjusting electrical systems and components. Adhere strictly to safety policies and codes, working in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), VA regulations, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Coordinate and communicate with contractors and other trades as needed to ensure timely completion of electrical tasks associated with construction, renovation, and maintenance projects. Performs other duties as assigned.Work Schedule:

EXPERIENCE
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Work requires regular physical exertion, including frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing ladders and scaffolds, and working in restricted or awkward positions for extended periods. Frequently lifts, carries, or moves objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier items with assistance. Operates hand and power tools which require physical stamina and coordination. May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces.Work Environment:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including in mechanical/electrical rooms, patient care areas, rooftops, and outside in all weather conditions. Exposed to hazards of electrical shock, burns, cuts, bruises, and falls from ladders, scaffolds, or slippery surfaces. Lighting, heating and ventilation in work area- incumbent is exposed to heat, restricted ventilation and poor illumination in areas such as equipment rooms. Leave:
Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
