Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The purpose of this job is to perform intermediate technical work testing, installing, and maintaining electrical equipment and apparatus; performs electrical construction and maintenance on city owned buildings and equipment. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Checks pump issues with electrical problems. Repairs lights, fixtures in City buildings and parks. Installs wiring for new construction and to existing city owned buildings, equipment, and sports facilities. Provides electrical maintenance to all existing city owned facilities. Performs inspections on new constructions to insure proper electrical regulations are adhered. Maintains records and files; prepares reports. Inventories and orders parts and materials as necessary. Performs related work as required. Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife. Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery. Electrical shock; Heights.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain an appropriate, valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires High School degree, or GED equivalent supplemented by electronic-related trade school electrical degree and six (6) years of experience as an electrician or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
