Job Description

RESIDENTIAL SERVICE ELECTRICIAN
Dean & Co Electrical - Columbus, OH
WE'RE GROWING
AND WE'RE STILL BUILDING.
Dean & Co Electrical is a growing residential electrical service company in Columbus, and we're looking for an experienced Residential Service Electrician to become one of the key people on our team. This is a commission-based position built for technicians who want to be rewarded for their performance. Once you're up and running, your earning potential is driven by your performance. Strong technicians have the opportunity to earn $80,000-$150,000+, with no artificial ceiling placed on exceptional performers. We also want to be upfront about who we are. We're not a 100-truck company with 30 years of systems, layers of management, and every process perfected. We're a smaller company with big goals. We're investing heavily in our brand, technology, marketing, training, customer experience, and the systems needed to build a great residential service company. Some things we're very good at. Some things we're still improving. We're looking for the type of person who finds that exciting. This is an opportunity to get into a growing company early, make great money, have a voice, and help shape how we do things as we grow. If you need every system to already be perfect before you walk through the door, we may not be the right fit. If you want to help build something, keep reading.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for more than someone who knows electrical work. Our technicians own the customer experience from the time they arrive at the home through completion of the job. You'll diagnose electrical problems, evaluate the home's electrical system, communicate your findings, provide homeowners with appropriate options, sell work, and complete high-quality repairs and installations. This is residential service work — not commercial construction or new construction. You don't need to be a pushy salesperson. In fact, we don't want that. We want technicians who can build trust, educate homeowners, explain their options clearly, and confidently ask how they'd like to move forward.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Run residential electrical service and estimate calls throughout the Columbus area Troubleshoot and diagnose residential electrical problems Perform repairs, replacements, upgrades, and installations Evaluate electrical systems beyond the customer's immediate complaint Identify legitimate safety, reliability, and upgrade opportunities Explain your findings in language homeowners can understand Build and present appropriate repair and replacement options Help customers make informed decisions without scare tactics or high-pressure sales Confidently ask for the work Complete sold work professionally and efficiently Maintain detailed job notes, estimates, and photos in ServiceTitan Collect payment and properly close out jobs Maintain a clean company vehicle and professional appearance Treat customers' homes with respect Deliver an experience worthy of a 5-star review
TYPES OF WORK YOU'LL SEE
Our focus is residential electrical service, repair, replacement, and upgrades, including: Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics Panel replacements and upgrades Electrical service upgrades EV charger installations Generator-related electrical work Whole-home surge protection Dedicated circuits Lighting and recessed lighting Outlets, switches, and GFCIs Ceiling fans and fixtures Hot tub and appliance circuits Remodels and rewires Smoke and CO detectors General residential electrical repairs and upgrades
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The right person for this position: Has strong residential electrical experience Is confident troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems Can work independently in the field Communicates extremely well with homeowners Is comfortable discussing pricing and money Can present multiple options without being pushy Is comfortable asking for the sale Understands that great service means looking at the entire situation, not just replacing the first broken part Takes ownership of their jobs and results Takes pride in workmanship, cleanliness, appearance, and professionalism Is comfortable using an iPad and field-service software Is organized and dependable Is coachable and wants feedback Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Wants to continually improve technically, professionally, and financially Wants their earning potential tied to their performance
COMPENSATION
This is a commission/performance-based position with uncapped earning potential. We provide an initial safety net during your transition into the company so you have time to learn our systems, processes, pricing, and expectations without feeling like you're being thrown into the deep end on day one. After that transition period, this position is designed to reward production. Strong technicians have the opportunity to earn approximately $100,000-$150,000+, with exceptional performers having the ability to earn more. The full commission structure and details of the initial safety net will be discussed during the interview process. We're looking for someone who wants the opportunity to control their income through their performance rather than simply being paid for hours on the clock.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Company service vehicle Residential service and estimate opportunities Commission-based compensation with significant upside Initial compensation safety net while getting established ServiceTitan Company iPad Professional branded uniforms Dispatch and customer service support Established pricing and processes Sales and technical development A growing local brand and reputation Direct access to company leadership An environment where good ideas are actually heard Opportunity for advancement as the company grows
THE REALITY OF JOINING A GROWING COMPANY
We want to be transparent about this. Dean & Co is still a smaller company. We're growing, investing, changing systems, adding technology, improving processes, and constantly looking for ways to operate better. That means there will be things we change. There will be processes we improve. There may be times when we figure something out together instead of handing you a corporate manual that was written 20 years ago. That's part of joining us at this stage. In return, you aren't employee #137. Your performance will be noticed. You'll have direct access to the people making decisions. Your feedback can actually change how the company operates. As we add technicians, trucks, and leadership positions, we want the people who helped us build the company to have opportunities to grow with it. We're looking for someone who can see where we're going — not just where we are today.
THIS POSITION PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU
IF... You primarily want commercial or new-construction work You don't enjoy interacting with homeowners You're uncomfortable discussing pricing You believe selling and customer service aren't part of a service electrician's job You want to be paid the same regardless of your performance You need constant supervision to stay productive You resist coaching, technology, or changes in process You become frustrated when a growing company adjusts and improves its systems You're looking to clock in, complete the minimum required, and clock out You want a large corporate environment where everything has already been built
WHY JOIN A SMALLER COMPANY?
Because the people who join while something is being built have an opportunity that usually doesn't exist once it's already built. We're not looking to stay small. As Dean & Co grows, we'll need additional technicians, field leadership, trainers, supervisors, and managers. We can't promise anyone a future position simply for being here first — advancement has to be earned. But when those opportunities are created, we'd much rather promote proven people who helped us get there than automatically look outside the company. If your goal is to find somewhere you can produce, make great money, improve your skills, and potentially take on greater responsibility as the company grows, this could be a great fit.
ABOUT DEAN & CO ELECTRICAL
Dean & Co Electrical is a residential electrical service company serving Columbus and surrounding communities. We're building a company homeowners remember — from our branding and customer service to the technicians we send into their homes. Our goal is to provide an experience that feels different from the typical contractor: professional communication, knowledgeable technicians, clear options, quality workmanship, and an exceptional customer experience from the first phone call through completion. We're serious about where we're going, but we're also realistic about where we are today. We don't expect our next technician to simply fill a seat. We're looking for someone who could become an important part of the company we're building. Dean & Co - The Way To Go!
TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with your resume and relevant electrical experience. Residential service experience is strongly preferred. Previous experience working under commission, performance pay, or a residential service sales model is a major plus. If you've been one of the stronger producers at another residential service company and feel like you're ready for an opportunity where your performance can have a bigger impact, we'd especially like to hear from you.
