This position is located within the Facilities Management Service Portland Oregon, in the Electric/Electronics Section of Maintenance and Repair. The incumbent is responsible for the unique requirement of the continual supply, 24/7, of the highest priority electrical utility for life safety purposes in the medical center, community living center, direct and indirect patient care areas, regardless of what the local utility provides or allows.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT

Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, the ability to do the work of the Medical Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision.

Examples include:

Constructing, installing, operating, and troubleshooting a variety of sophisticated electrical systems, circuits, equipment and controls for example: unique medical center emergency systems, wiring systems within buildings, motor control centers, distribution panels, multiple ANSI protective relay devices, advanced power metering and control circuits. Plans, installs, and repairs various systems, subsystems, circuits, equipment and controls such as the routing, placement, balance, load, continuity and proper safe operation of circuits and controls to machinery and specialized control equipment, wiring systems in buildings and lighting systems. Diagnose malfunctions, and repair and test electrical equipment. Uses electronic test equipment such as vacuum tube voltmeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and tube checkers. Uses hand tools and a variety of test equipment to replace defective parts or install compatible replacements. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Stands, stoops, bends, and frequently works in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods. Continually lifts from 5 to 18 kilograms (10 to 40 pounds) and, occasionally, objects weighing in excess of 18 kilograms (40 pounds) up to 65 pounds. Work is done inside and outside, in hot and cold temperature extremes. Constantly exposed to electric shocks, contagious diseases, moving equipment and machinery. Exposed to the possibility of broken bones, cuts, and bruises. May be exposed to extremely high noise levels, exposure to radiation, chemicals, and carcinogens.
