Industrial Electrical Panel Builder / Electrician Position Overview We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Industrial Electrical Panel Builder / Electrician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for laying out, assembling, and wiring custom-engineered electrical control panels and power distribution panels that drive our industrial chillers and large-scale refrigeration machinery. Because our equipment is custom-built to order, there are no standard assembly manuals; all panels must be built from scratch using engineering electrical schematics and blueprints . You must be highly proficient in interpreting these schematics to ensure every panel is wired to precise engineering specifications and meets industrial safety standards.
Position Type:
Full-Time, In-House (Production Floor)
Location:
Hatfield, PA Key Responsibilities Schematic-Driven Wiring:
Utilize engineering electrical schematics , ladder diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs) as the primary instruction source to lay out and wire all panel components.
Panel Assembly:
Mount components (PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, relays, circuit breakers, power supplies, and terminal blocks) onto sub-panels and enclosures according to layout drawings and schematic requirements.
Power & Control Point-to-Point Wiring:
Execute precise point-to-point wiring using schematics. Route, strip, crimp, and terminate heavy-gauge wire for 480V 3-phase power distribution circuits, as well as delicate low-voltage (24V DC) PLC control wiring.
Enclosure Preparation:
Measure, drill, tap, and cut holes in metal enclosures to mount conduits, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), pushbuttons, and disconnect switches based on schematic blueprints.
Quality & Safety Validation:
Cross-reference the completed physical panel against the original electrical schematics to conduct continuity and point-to-point wire checks using multimeters prior to final power testing. Ensure panels comply with UL 508A and NEC standards.
Collaboration & Marking:
Apply clear wire labels, terminal tags, and component markers in strict alignment with schematic designations. Provide feedback to engineering regarding schematic errors or design optimization tweaks.
Required Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Technical trade school certificate or apprenticeship in Industrial Electricity, Electrical Technology, or Mechatronics is preferred.
Experience:
2-5+ years of hands-on experience building, wiring, and troubleshooting industrial electrical control panels from the ground up using schematics.
Schematic Literacy:
Advanced, proven ability to read, interpret, and trace complex industrial electrical schematics , wiring diagrams, and mechanical engineering layouts.
Tool & Component Mastery:
Proficiency using manual and power tools (wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, drill presses, knockout punches, and digital multimeters). Familiarity with industrial control components (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Workmanship:
Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on neatness (clean wire routing, proper bundling, and secure terminations) and safety practices. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be able to stand for extended periods on the manufacturing floor. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and distinguish wire colors accurately.
Job Type:
