Experienced Maintenance Technician - Electrical & Mechanical Position Summary The Experienced Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving industrial production equipment and facility systems. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical capabilities, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to diagnose equipment issues efficiently to minimize downtime. The technician works independently and collaboratively with operations, engineering, and other maintenance personnel to support reliable plant performance. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic faults on production and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot motors, motor controls, variable-frequency drives, sensors, relays, contactors, control circuits, and related industrial electrical components.
- Perform mechanical repairs involving bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, fans, couplings, belts, chains, shafts, and power-transmission systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and equipment requirements.
- Identify root causes of recurring failures and recommend or implement practical corrective actions.
- Install, align, test, and commission new or modified equipment and components.
- Use test equipment and precision tools, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, calipers, micrometers, and alignment tools.
- Document work performed, parts used, equipment condition, and follow-up needs in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas; follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined-space, hot-work, and other applicable procedures.
- Support planned shutdowns, breakdown response, and continuous-improvement activities.
- Communicate equipment status and repair priorities clearly during shift handoffs and with operations personnel.
- Assist with spare-parts identification and inventory accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance to less-experienced technicians when needed. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related technical program is strongly valued.
- At least five years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, processing, or similar environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and standard electrical test equipment.
- Ability to safely troubleshoot energized equipment when permitted by procedure and job requirements.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices and systematic troubleshooting methods.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and precision measuring instruments safely.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including accurate maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and respond effectively to urgent equipment problems. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree, apprenticeship, or recognized technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or a related field.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers, including using software to monitor inputs, outputs, and logic for troubleshooting.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
- Familiarity with condition-monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography, or oil analysis.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, machining, or basic rigging.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical and workplace safety standards. Core Competencies

Schedule and Availability This position may require shift work, overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-in support based on operating needs.
