Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to develop precise estimates. Utilize estimating software and other industry tools to prepare detailed cost proposals for electrical projects. Conduct thorough material cost estimating, including electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Manage project budgets by analyzing labor, material, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes to establish reliable pricing strategies. Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure favorable contracts and scope agreements. Ensure all estimates comply with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, electrical building codes, and NFPA safety regulations. Review construction drawings for accuracy, construct project timelines, identify potential risks or cost overruns, and implement cost control measures. Support project management by providing detailed estimates that align with project scope while maintaining profitability. Assist in bid preparation by coordinating with procurement teams to gather quotes and validate pricing assumptions. Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, correspondence, revisions, and contractual agreements for audit readiness. Requirements Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry or related fields; construction site experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and electrical building codes. Proficiency with estimating software. Excellent negotiation skills to effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Solid understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 compliance standards, and safety regulations related to electrical work. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and report generation. Ability to review construction drawings critically for scope accuracy and potential cost implications. Experience managing project budgets from initial estimate through cost control measures during execution. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines. Construction management or general contractor experience is advantageous but not mandatory; a background in the construction industry is essential.
