Job Description
Job Description Insight Global is seeking an Estimator to join an MEP in Wilmington, CA. This position will be on the service team doing service and maintenance of systems. This role will focus on estimating service, repair, retrofit, and replacement projects for multifamily residential properties. Unlike new construction estimating, this position is responsible for evaluating existing building systems, identifying deficiencies, developing cost estimates, and preparing customer proposals for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service work. The Estimator will conduct site visits, assess existing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, collaborate with operations and field teams, and prepare accurate pricing for retrofit and maintenance-related projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience with HVAC and plumbing systems and understands how to evaluate existing conditions, develop solutions, and present professional proposals to customers. Experience within multifamily residential properties is highly preferred, although commercial building experience will also be considered. This is a fully onsite position based in Wilmington, CA, requiring attendance in the office five days per week. https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/. Skills and Requirements- 3+ years of estimating experience within the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or MEP industry.
- Experience estimating service, repair, retrofit, replacement, or maintenance projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical (HVAC) and plumbing systems.
- Experience evaluating existing building systems and developing solutions based on site conditions.
- Ability to build complete estimates and customer proposals from initial site walk-through through final submission.
- Experience preparing labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor cost estimates.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications, equipment schedules, and as-built documentation.
- Experience working on multifamily residential or commercial properties.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with customers, property managers, technicians, and operations teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software platforms. Ability to work onsite in Wilmington, CA, five days per week.
- Multifamily residential service and retrofit experience.
- Experience estimating HVAC equipment replacements, boiler systems, pumps, water heaters, piping upgrades, and plumbing retrofits.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and service-related estimating.
- Background with occupied residential communities, apartment complexes, senior living, student housing, or mixed-use properties.
- Experience creating presentation-quality customer proposals and recommendations.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and service agreements.
- Experience working for an MEP contractor, mechanical contractor, plumbing contractor, or facilities service organization.
- Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and energy-efficiency upgrade projects.
