In Office Murrieta, CA with periodic jobsite travel Job Summary Ready to build something bigger? Colorado West Construction is seeking a highly experienced Estimator with a proven track record supporting large-scale ground-up retail and grocery construction projects. The ideal candidate has extensive General Contracting experience, understands the unique challenges of occupied retail environments and grocery construction, and can confidently develop complete estimates from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission. This role plays a critical part in securing profitable projects throughout the Western United States and requires collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. The Role As an Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates that drive successful projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, vendors, and clients. You'll help ensure our projects are not only profitable but also built to the highest standard. This role also requires occasional travel for site visits to gather project data and support accurate estimating. What You'll Do Analyze project requirements and determine key cost variables Visit job sites to gather firsthand data (travel required) Research labor, material, and production costs Review vendor/subcontractor bids and negotiate competitive pricing Perform risk analysis and prepare detailed estimate reports Collaborate with project managers and clients to support bidding and planning Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers
What You Bring Required:
5+ years of Estimating experience with a Commercial General Contractor. Ability to bid 2-3 projects simultaneously Knowledge of general contracting and sub-contracting process Strong understanding of retail construction, grocery store construction, site development, and commercial building systems. Proven ability to solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor bids. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Project and MS Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project manuals. Willingness to travel for site visits and job walks throughout the Western U.S. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred:
Experience estimating projects for retailers, grocery chains, big-box stores, or national commercial brands. Experience with BidMail, Bluebeam, Procore, and PlanGrid. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field.
