Murrieta, CA Job Details Full-time $70,000 - $85,000 a year 19 hours ago Benefits Paid training Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Spreadsheets Math Local electrical codes Full Job Description Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive proposals for commercial low-voltage projects. This position reviews construction documents, performs detailed material and labor takeoffs, obtains vendor pricing, identifies project risks, and develops complete estimates for copper, fiber-optic, and related technology systems. The ideal candidate understands structured cabling installation practices, construction drawings, industry standards, and the costs associated with completing projects safely, efficiently, and profitably. Responsibilities Review drawings, specifications, addenda, bid invitations, and project requirements. Perform detailed takeoffs for copper cabling, fiber optics, pathways, racks, cabinets, patch panels, grounding, and related equipment. Estimate labor hours, materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits, travel, and other project costs. Prepare proposals for new construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and service projects. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, conflicts, and potential project risks. Submit requests for information when bid documents are unclear. Obtain and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors. Develop value-engineering alternatives when appropriate. Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct job-site walkthroughs. Coordinate with sales, project management, engineering, and installation teams. Maintain accurate estimating records, vendor quotes, and project documentation. Assist with bid reviews, contract scope comparisons, and project handoffs. Track bid results and help improve estimating accuracy and profitability. Systems and Project Types Category 6, and Category 6A cabling Single-mode and multimode fiber-optic systems Data centers and telecommunications rooms Backbone and horizontal cabling Outside-plant cabling Pathways, ladder racks, cable trays, sleeves, and supports Wireless access-point cabling Access control, surveillance, audio-visual, and other low-voltage systems, when applicable Qualifications Two or more years of structured cabling estimating or relevant field experience. Strong knowledge of copper and fiber-optic installation methods. Ability to read architectural, electrical, telecommunications, and low-voltage drawings. Familiarity with CSI Divisions 27 and 28. Understanding of BICSI, TIA, NEC, and applicable local codes and standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or takeoff software. Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and meet firm deadlines. High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate estimates. Valid driver's license and ability to attend job-site walkthroughs when necessary. Preferred Qualifications BICSI certifications such as RCDD, RTPM, TECH, or Installer. Experience with all relevant business software. Manufacturer certifications from CommScope, Panduit, Corning, Belden, Leviton, or comparable manufacturers. Previous structured cabling installation or project-management experience. Experience estimating public-sector, healthcare, education, data-center, or large commercial projects.
