In this competitive industry, Pre Con Industries is rapidly expanding in our diverse projects and clientele. Therefore, we are seeking to expand our wonderful team. We are currently seeking a Bid Coordinator/ Assistant Estimator .Job Description:
The Bid Coordinator/ Assistant Estimator will be responsible for assisting the project estimator on job walks, bids and submissions. In this role, you will coordinate with subcontractors, track bid invitations, and support the estimating process. Strong communication, problem-solving, time management and mathematical skills are key characteristics to this position. The position plays a vital role supporting the estimating team through consistent subcontractor follow up, verification of bid participation, conducting proactive phone calls, and assisting with all other duties. Job Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):- Conduct consistent follow-up- phone calls with subcontractors to confirm receipt of bid invitations
- Call subcontractors to confirm participation in bidding and gather status updates on their bids
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare, send and track bid invitation lists, and follow up for responses to bid invitations
- Track responses from invites and update list/ excel sheets
- Update and maintain the current bid schedule
- Attend pre bid meetings as required
- Organize bid packages as needed
- Respond to subcontractors addressing questions related to bids
- Assist the estimator with administrative duties in proposals and estimates
- Obtain subcontractor and supplier estimates
- Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying a detailed itemized take off from plans and specifications
- Maintain positive communication with customers via phone, email, and job walks
- Obtain project documents and read project specs and manual
- Perform basic clerical tasks as requested by the estimating staff
- Request bid bond documents from bonding company
- Request insurance from insurance agency
- Prepare prequalification's and submit on a timely manner based on due dates
- Assist with submittals
- Travel to bid opening to submit proposals in person on bid day
- Coordinate with chief estimator to submit the correct data on bid proposals
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Experience in administrative or project management roles
- Knowledge of estimating and project coordination
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans and specifications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Valid drivers license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction estimating or related field
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Smart Bid
- Previous work-related experience to this position
