Job Description
About the Role We're hiring a Commercial HVAC Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial mechanical projects — new construction, tenant improvement, retrofit, and service-related work. This role owns the estimate from takeoff through proposal submission and works closely with sales, project management, and operations to make sure what we bid is what we can build. What You'll Do Perform quantity takeoffs from commercial mechanical drawings and specifications (ductwork, piping, equipment, controls) Develop full cost estimates: labor, material, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and overhead/margin Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes Prepare and submit bid proposals for GC, design-build, and negotiated commercial projects Review plans and specs for scope gaps, ambiguities, and constructability issues; raise RFIs as needed Track bid results and win/loss trends to refine future pricing Support project handoff to operations with clear scope, budget, and assumptions documentation Maintain relationships with GCs, subcontractors, and equipment vendors Stay current on commercial HVAC equipment, code requirements, and estimating software/tools What You Need Demonstrated commercial HVAC estimating experience — new construction and/or retrofit/TI projects (this is not a residential-to-commercial transition role) Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems: RTUs, VAV, chillers, boilers, ductwork design, controls Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or comparable) Ability to read and interpret commercial mechanical drawings and specifications Understanding of commercial bid processes: GC bid solicitations, addenda, bid bonds, prevailing wage awareness where applicable Strong math and analytical skills; comfortable owning pricing accuracy under deadline pressure Valid driver's license for occasional job site visits Nice to Have Experience with ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, or other relevant field service software Design-build or negotiated project experience in addition to hard-bid Familiarity with Colorado mechanical code and local AHJ requirements Compensation & Benefits Pay range begins at $75,000 to $90,000 annually, based on experience, not including commission/bonuses medical/dental/vision via Aetna w/ employer contribution, 401(k) match, PTO.
