What they do
A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Minimum Requirements:
- + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations + Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred + State Teacher Certification;

Standard Secondary Teaching preferred + State Teacher Certification;Type:
Standard Special Teaching preferred +Endorsement:
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age- Benefits
