Production Cost Engineer Farmington, Connecticut Compensation:
$75,000 to $95,000 per year This manufacturer is hiring a Production Cost Engineer to analyze, benchmark, and improve manufacturing costs across multiple production lines. This role acts as the key interface between production, engineering, controlling, and global lead plants to drive cost transparency and execute cost reduction initiatives, supporting both day to day cost monitoring and long term cost strategy including localization and process improvement projects.
Schedule:
Full time, on site, with occasional travel and shop floor work required.
Compensation:
$75,000 to $95,000 per year.
What You'll Do:
This Production Cost Engineer will review and analyze monthly group production cost reports to identify cost variances, root causes, and corrective actions, and will perform benchmark analyses of assembly hours and fabrication costs against lead plants, defining cost and time deltas and developing project based action plans to close gaps. This role defines and maintains cost per hour targets for fabrication processes, leads initiatives to reach target levels, and reviews manufacturing overhead calculations monthly with Controlling, summarizing key changes, drivers, and risks. On the coordination side, this person will lead monthly cost review meetings with each lead plant, facilitate cross functional meetings with stakeholders on cost measures and project execution, support cost measure investigations including data collection and follow up, and provide regular cost and project performance updates to senior leadership across all assigned product lines. This role also supports project engineers with cost analyses for localization projects, including business case evaluations and financial impact assessments, and plans, manages, and executes concurrent improvement, cost saving, and localization projects, developing structured project plans with scope, timelines, risk analyses, and cost strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration (operations focus), or equivalent 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing cost engineering, production engineering, or process improvement Experience in cost benchmarking, variance analysis, and manufacturing KPI management Strong project management skills, including leading cross-site projects and stakeholder meetings Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and Power Query Willingness to work on the shop floor and travel occasionally
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in sheet metal fabrication environments SAP experience Power BI experience
