In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm drain infrastructure. Your expertise will help ensure project budgets are precise, competitive, and aligned with client expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects by leveraging your construction industry experience and estimating skills. You will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bids that reflect the scope of work and material requirements. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and identify material and labor requirements Prepare detailed cost estimates using estimating software such as Agtek, Bid2Win or similar tools, incorporating material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes Utilize Bluebeam and other construction management software to markup drawings, extract quantities, and facilitate accurate estimation processes Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and adjusting estimates as needed to remain competitive while maintaining profitability Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing and terms for materials and services Develop comprehensive project proposals that clearly outline scope of work, pricing strategies, and schedule considerations Collaborate with project teams to review construction plans, identify potential risks or cost overruns, and implement effective cost control measures Communicate effectively with clients regarding project estimates, scope clarifications, and contractual details to foster strong relationships Requirements Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the underground utility or broader construction industry minumum 3 years expierence Strong proficiency in estimating software such as Bid2Win, HeavyBid, Xactimate, or equivalent programs Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, construction drawing review, and interpreting technical drawings specific to underground utilities Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets for cost analysis), construction management software, and Bluebeam for markup and quantity extraction Demonstrated ability in cost management including material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and budget estimation for commercial construction projects Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors Construction site experience coupled with a solid understanding of construction management principles and contracts Familiarity with estimating material requirements from blueprints and managing project budgets effectively Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration Knowledge of Xactimate or similar estimating tools is preferred but not mandatory Join us if you're passionate about delivering precise estimates that drive successful underground utility projects!
