Job Description
Position Summary PCC is seeking a highly capable Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department and help drive the next stage of our company's growth. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing all estimating activities across commercial and industrial projects including painting, specialty coatings, waterproofing, resinous flooring, fireproofing, restoration, and related services. We're looking for someone with strong construction experience, excellent business instincts, and the ability to evaluate risk, pricing, labor, and project strategy. Industry-specific coatings experience is a plus—but not required. We value intelligence, organization, sound judgment, and someone who understands how to build winning estimates while protecting profitability. This individual will work closely with executive leadership, operations, business development, and project management to help secure high-quality work and continually improve our estimating processes. Responsibilities Lead and manage the estimating department. Review bid opportunities and determine pursuit strategy. Develop complete, accurate, and competitive project estimates. Analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents. Identify project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities. Coordinate with operations to verify labor production rates and project execution plans. Work with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing. Review estimates prepared by other estimators for accuracy and completeness. Participate in bid strategy meetings and final pricing decisions. Help negotiate proposals and assist with client presentations when appropriate. Develop estimating standards, databases, and best practices. Continuously improve estimating efficiency through technology and process improvements. Mentor and develop junior estimators. Qualifications 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience. Experience leading complex construction estimates. Strong understanding of construction means and methods. Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working directly with executive leadership. Experience using estimating software and Excel. Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who: Has exceptional construction instincts. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following industries is beneficial: Commercial construction Industrial construction General contracting Concrete restoration Waterproofing Roofing Flooring (Conventional and Resinous/Seamless) Structural steel Civil construction Specialty contracting (Painting and coatings experience is a plus but is not required .) Success in This Role The successful Chief Estimator will: Improve bid accuracy. Increase bid win percentage. Protect company margins. Develop a world-class estimating department.
