Electrical Estimator - Commercial Construction Build the Numbers Behind Major Electrical Projects Are you an experienced Electrical Estimator looking for an opportunity to take on more responsibility, work on complex commercial projects, and grow your career with an established electrical contractor? We are seeking a motivated Electrical Estimator to join a high-performing estimating team. This role offers the opportunity to work on technical, healthcare, and industrial projects , develop fully engineered estimates, collaborate with project teams, and play a key role in winning and successfully executing major projects. The ideal candidate has a strong commercial electrical background, understands electrical systems and the NEC, and can produce accurate, complete estimates while identifying potential scope gaps and cost risks. What You'll Do Prepare and manage estimates for multiple electrical systems on technical, healthcare, and industrial projects . Lead fully engineered estimates for projects valued up to $5 million . Develop conceptual estimates and preliminary budgets for projects up to $1 million . Thoroughly review bid documents, specifications, drawings, and proposals to understand the complete project scope. Ensure estimates accurately capture all required labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project scope. Perform detailed quantity take-offs and review estimate take-offs for accuracy and completeness. Identify scope deficiencies, discrepancies, and unanswered questions and work proactively with the project team to resolve them. Analyze contract documents and modifications to determine changes in scope and develop appropriate cost allowances. Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) when developing and reviewing estimates. Utilize estimating and on-screen take-off software to produce accurate and competitive bids. Work closely with project management, preconstruction, and operations teams throughout the estimating process. Help ensure estimates are accurate, reliable, complete, and delivered within established deadlines. Provide guidance and mentorship to Estimator Trainees and Estimator I team members . Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and best practices. What We're Looking For Four-year degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline , or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant industry experience. 2+ years of experience with a commercial electrical contractor . At least 1 year of recent electrical estimating experience . Experience with on-screen take-offs is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of McCormick and Bluebeam or comparable estimating/take-off platforms. Strong understanding of electrical construction and the NEC . Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documents. Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and utilize new estimating systems and software. Exceptional attention to detail with a proven track record of accurate and complete estimates. Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
