Full Job Description Description:
The Assistant Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial metal decking projects across the United States. Working closely with experienced estimators, this position reviews construction drawings, performs quantity takeoffs, gathers and organizes project information, assists with pricing and bid preparation, and helps manage multiple project pursuits. Over time, the Assistant Estimator assumes increasing responsibility for project estimating and bid development; making this an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong analytical and computer skills, attention to detail and the ability to efficiently navigate construction documents and technology.
Requirements:
Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs sheet metal decking and related scopes of work. Request and evaluate pricing from suppliers. Organize project information, takeoffs, and supporting documentation to assist other Estimators in preparing complete and accurate bids. Work with other Estimators to meet bid deadlines and support multiple project pursuits. Review project scope to identify risks, missing information, and cost impacts. Stays abreast of changes with suppliers and industry partners. Help develop and maintain estimating databases and historical cost information. Participate in bid review meetings and estimate discussions. Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during project handoff after award. Support value engineering efforts and identify cost-saving opportunities when appropriate. Stay informed about market trends, material pricing, and construction industry developments.
