Job Description

Commercial Roofing Edge Estimator Position Objective We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive proposals for commercial roofing projects and service work. The Estimator will review blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements. This individual will work closely with sales, project management, operations, vendors, contractors, and customers throughout the preconstruction and bidding process. Key Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents to develop accurate roofing estimates. Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates. Develop and submit proposals to general contractors, private clients, and other customers. Manage assigned bids from initial pre-bid review through project handoff. Maintain an accurate bid log and track bid activity, awards, and closed opportunities. Request and coordinate shop drawings, product data sheets, samples, submittals, and other required documentation. Evaluate project specifications and determine appropriate roofing systems and materials. Obtain and review vendor and subcontractor pricing. Analyze project costs and compare actual performance against original estimates when applicable. Communicate with general contractors, owners, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel to clarify project requirements and resolve estimating issues. Review changes in scope and prepare pricing adjustments or revised estimates. Maintain relationships and directories for suppliers, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors. Respond to customer questions and requests during the preconstruction phase. Collaborate with Project Management, Service, Sales, Operations, and administrative teams. Assist with operational budgeting and forecasting as needed. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. 3-5+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience. Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, installation methods, and construction processes. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Experience with EDGE Estimating Software preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Previous experience working for a commercial roofing contractor. Bilingual English/Spanish. Strong negotiation skills. Knowledge of construction business and project management principles. Properly utilize required personal protective equipment when visiting jobsites. Working Conditions This position operates in both an office and field environment . Jobsite visits may include exposure to active construction environments, varying temperatures, noise, ladders, roofing materials, and other typical construction-site conditions. The role may require climbing ladders and accessing roofs to evaluate project conditions. Regular sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional lifting of up to approximately 50 pounds may be required.
Travel:
Primarily local travel for customer meetings, site visits, roof assessments, and project reviews. #INDHP
