Job Description

Industrial Access is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have estimating experience on industrial construction projects. The position requires a deep understanding of the Industrial sector and experience with relevant projects (shutdown, turnaround, outage). The estimator must be a flexible and adaptable team player with strong communication and client service skills. To be successful, this candidate will have a collaborative and analytical mindset and ability to perform industrial project takeoffs to build accurate professional estimates. •Local candidates only. This position requires working on site at our office in Cumming, GA. •Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship
Essential Job Functions:
Create high level budgets for proposals Develop detailed budgets for projects Conduct quantity takeoffs for all trades and review project plans/specifications to gain a complete understanding of the project scope Proposal writing Update budgets for projects Solicit new Sub-Contractors and Vendors Assist customers/intercompany departments with technical information and pricing during pre & post project Utilize internal metrics and tools to produce valid estimates Manage estimating workflow and pipeline to provide complete estimation packages before bid deadlines Review client-provided scopes of work for various trades and distribute bid packages to various vendors and subcontractors, if needed. Obtain a minimum of three qualified subcontractor/vendor quotes for each scope of work Prepare a Bid Summary for each estimate Review bids with sales and operations team Estimate change orders to support operations Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings Foster relationships with key vendors Ensure profit and overhead ratios are met Update/modify and utilize internal pricing tools Identify and appropriately mitigate risk Successful candidates will demonstrate the following characteristics: Propensity towards mathematics Ability to quickly analyze, interpret and compare detailed and often inadequately defined information Ability to make reliable and accurate conclusions based on information gathered Strong interpersonal and communication skills Assertive and self-confident Comfortable presenting verbally and in writing in a manner that is relevant to the audience and able to manage client expectations pro-actively Understanding of the construction industry, best practices and knowledge of major business players in the community a plus Understanding of public and private bidding practices
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in construction or related field, or a combination of training and experience that provides sufficient construction knowledge to perform essential functions Minimum of 2 years' experience in Industrial Preconstruction Estimating (Power, Pulp & Paper, manufacturing, Cement, Mining) Experience with small to large scale industrial/mechanical projects Experience with conceptual estimating, preconstruction and hard bid estimating Advanced knowledge of estimating and CRM tools as well as MS Excel This is a full-time salaried position with significant commission opportunity. The starting base salary range for this role is $50,000 - $70,000 per year with total compensation (base + commission) averaging $80,000 - $120,000+.
