Job Description

Senior Electrical EstimatorPosition Overview We are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive electrical bids for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical projects. This role is responsible for producing detailed takeoffs and cost estimates, evaluating project scope and risk, coordinating with project managers and subcontractors, and supporting business development by delivering timely proposals. The ideal candidate has deep estimating experience, strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and the NEC, and hands-on experience with Accubid/Accubid Anywhere.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare complete and accurate electrical estimates and material takeoffs for ground-up, retrofit, industrial, commercial, data center, mission-critical, manufacturing, oil & gas, and distribution center projects.

Use Accubid and Accubid Anywhere (or equivalent estimating software) to develop labor, material, and equipment takeoffs and assemblies.

Review drawings, specifications, and RFPs; perform site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to verify scope and conditions.

Develop pricing strategies, determine risk/cost contingencies, and identify value engineering and constructability improvements.

Coordinate with procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and project management to obtain quotes, clarify assumptions, and validate pricing.

Prepare bid packages, proposals, and detailed estimate documentation; ensure estimates meet client and company standards.

Work closely with Project Managers during bid phase and project handover to ensure smooth transition and accurate baseline budgets.

Maintain and update historical cost databases, unit price libraries, and estimating templates to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Mentor and train junior estimators; review and QA estimates prepared by others to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Monitor market trends, material price changes, and labor productivity to maintain competitive estimates and advise leadership on pricing strategies.

Support business development by responding to inquiries, preparing bid clarifications, and participating in client meetings as needed.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 710 years of electrical estimating experience with a proven track record of producing winning bids across commercial, industrial, and mission-critical sectors.

Hands-on experience with Accubid and/or Accubid Anywhere; proficient with electronic takeoff tools and estimating software.

Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and controls.

Demonstrated experience estimating ground-up construction, distribution centers, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and oil & gas projects preferred.

Proven ability to perform detailed takeoffs, quantity takeoff methods, unit pricing, and labor productivity analysis.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly present assumptions and pricing rationale to internal teams and clients.

Experience coordinating with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors and obtaining/comparing competitive quotes.

Familiarity with bidding strategies, contract types, and commercial construction practices; Project Manager experience is a plus.

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for pricing models, cost analysis, and reporting.

Ability to work under tight bid deadlines, prioritize multiple bids, and travel to job sites and client meetings as required.

Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or construction/estimating coursework are a plus.
