This role requires a detail-oriented professional with the ability to manage complex scopes, mentor junior estimators, and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers, particularly Sales and Operations. The Senior Estimator ensures that the sales team is equipped with precise, competitive pricing to win work, while Operations receives complete and accurate handoffs to execute projects successfully. Reports to:
Preconstruction Manager Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides mentorship and guidance to Estimators and Jr. Estimators. May lead small estimating teams or serve as the lead estimator on large, complex bids.
Essential Functions:
Estimating Leadership Lead the preparation of detailed, accurate bids, proposals, and takeoffs for complex and high-value projects. Review junior estimators' work to ensure accuracy and consistency. Develop estimating strategies that align with company profitability goals and competitive positioning. Preconstruction & Collaboration Partner with Sales and Operations to evaluate scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Participate in bid review and strategy meetings with leadership. Lead efficient, complete, and consistent handoffs of awarded projects to Operations. Vendor & Market Engagement Maintain and expand relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Proactively source new vendors and negotiate favorable pricing to improve competitiveness. Monitor material pricing trends and labor market conditions to adjust estimating models. Process & Compliance Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements. Maintain and update estimating tools, cost databases, and pricing libraries. Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency. Internal Customer Engagement Serve as a trusted partner to the Sales and Operations teams by providing creative solutions, accurate estimates, and value engineering options. Participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings with Sales to clarify scope, address questions, and ensure alignment on client needs. Support Operations by delivering complete, accurate submittal packages and remaining available to answer questions during handoff and project setup. Provide timely follow-up on submitted bids to help Sales track results, improve accuracy, and refine future strategies.

Annual and individual metrics are established in alignment with company growth and profitability goals. Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in construction (fencing or related trades preferred). Advanced ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications. Proficiency with on-screen takeoff software (Stack preferred), CAD software, and Microsoft Excel. Strong financial and analytical skills with expertise in cost modeling and market pricing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously with high accuracy. Must maintain regular attendance, exhibit professional conduct, and positively represent the company with customers and vendors.
