Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing comprehensive estimates, and collaborating with clients and project teams to ensure successful project execution. You will play a key role in identifying new project opportunities, developing competitive proposals, and helping the team successfully secure and transition awarded projects. This position is ideal for an estimator who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact on the growth and success of the company. This is an in-person, on-site position. We are currently considering local candidates who are able to reliably commute to our location. Responsibilities (but not limited to): Prepare estimates assigned by the Director of Estimating in accordance with client-requested deadlines, while communicating RFIs, questions, and potential scope concerns in a timely manner. Monitor emails daily regarding projects currently in progress or previously estimated, and provide timely updates related to RFIs, addendums, scope sheets, clarifications, and other relevant project information. Attend pre-bid walkthrough meetings often, take detailed photographs and notes, and use this information to develop a comprehensive bid package. When required, contact wallcovering vendors, specialty paint vendors, subcontractors, and other suppliers to obtain and compile project-specific pricing. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients throughout the bidding and award process. Record all estimates, bid information, and relevant notes in the bid log on the day each estimate is submitted. Manage multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely and competitive proposals. As projects progress toward award, review project scope, pricing, exclusions, and other pertinent details with the Director of Estimating and Project Manager prior to contract execution. Upon project award, compile all relevant documentation, agreed-upon scope, pricing, and project information, and review project details with the Director of Estimating and Project Management team to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution. Follow up with clients regularly after bid submissions to obtain project status updates, pricing feedback, anticipated award dates, and information regarding subcontractor selections and scheduling. Assist the Director of Estimating in developing, implementing, and refining policies and procedures for the estimating department to improve efficiency, consistency, communication, and overall effectiveness.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in commercial painting, construction estimating, or a related field preferred. Must be detail-oriented with a strong understanding of technical aspects. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Computer use and knowledge. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products. Understanding or ability to learn construction management software platforms used in estimating and project tracking, for example: Plan Swift (takeoffs) and Procore. Strong communication skills for client interactions, bid presentations, and team collaboration.
