The Role:
Construction Estimator We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. This person will work closely with our sales team to evaluate opportunities, develop accurate estimates, and prepare competitive proposals for laboratory casework, furniture, equipment, and related products. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, onsite position at our Long Lake, Minnesota office.
Key Responsibilities:
Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for laboratory casework, countertops, fume hoods, furniture, and equipment Prepare accurate, complete, and competitive project estimates Request and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors Identify scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, and potential project risks Prepare proposal documents that clearly define our scope of work Manage bid schedules, deadlines, and follow-up communication Collaborate with the sales team to review opportunities, clarify project scope, develop bid strategies, and prepare proposals Assist with the handoff of awarded projects from estimating to project management Maintain organized estimating records, pricing information, and historical cost data
Who You Are:
Education:
Two- or four-year degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, business, or a related field—or equivalent relevant experience
Experience:
Background in construction estimating, project management, architectural drafting, laboratory design, or a related field
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Organization:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
Communication:
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Attributes:
Self-motivated, dependable, curious, and willing to take ownership of assigned work
Technology:
Comfortable working with
Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Industry Knowledge:
Experience with laboratory casework, millwork, countertops, or specialty construction is helpful but not required
