Job Description

Position Summary The Senior Estimator / Commercial Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing customer relationships, scoping and estimating commercial and residential projects, and managing those projects through completion. This role combines technical expertise in commercial Hot Water Heating / HVAC & Plumbing with solution selling, project design, and project management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing residential and commercial customers to identify project opportunities and ongoing service needs. Meet with customers, builders, and general contractors to review project sites, understand requirements, and define project scope and performance expectations. Prepare detailed proposals and cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Develop conceptual and detailed designs as needed to support estimating, proposal development, and successful execution of awarded projects. Manage sold projects from handoff through closeout, including purchasing equipment and fixtures, coordinating deliveries, and aligning with field labor and subcontractors on schedules and installation requirements. Draft, price, and manage change orders, communicating clearly with customers and internal teams regarding scope, cost, and schedule impacts. Provide technical support and guidance to customers, project managers, and field personnel throughout the life of the project. Close out projects by verifying punch list completion, collecting required documentation, and supporting billing and final customer handoff. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial heating (mechanical) projects. Hands-on experience estimating, designing, and supporting installation of commercial boiler and hot water heating systems (e.g., hydronic loops, heat exchangers, pumps, and associated controls). Journeyman licenses in HVAC/mechanical or Plumbing preferred. Demonstrated experience preparing estimates and proposals for commercial or large residential projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for estimates, takeoffs, and cost tracking. Experience working with commercial or high-value consumer services customers, including direct customer interaction and solution selling. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple bids and active projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and revenue targets. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
