The Role The Commercial Plumbing Estimator prepares accurate, competitive bids for commercial plumbing projects from plan review through proposal submission. You'll own takeoffs, pricing, and scope development, and you'll work closely with project managers, field foremen, and vendors to make sure every number we put out is grounded in how the job will actually be built. What You'll Do Perform complete quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications for commercial plumbing scopes (sanitary, storm, domestic water, gas, medical gas, fixtures, equipment). Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Review project documents to identify scope, exclusions, addenda, and potential risk before bid. Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and specialty subcontractors. Apply appropriate labor rates, crew blends, and productivity factors to build realistic labor budgets. Prepare and submit clear, professional proposals and bid packages on deadline. Participate in bid-day pricing decisions and final markup strategy. Hand off won projects to operations with a clean estimate breakdown and scope summary. Track bid results and refine estimating assumptions based on actual job performance. What You Bring 3+ years of commercial plumbing estimating experience (or strong field-to-estimating progression). Solid ability to read and interpret commercial construction plans and specifications. Working knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, code requirements, and installation methods. Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software — experience with Trimble AutoBid strongly preferred. Comfort with Excel and standard estimating workflows.
