  • Pearl, MS A-1 Kendrick Fence Company is looking for a Bid Estimator to join our commercial team.
This position is responsible for reviewing construction plans and specifications, completing accurate material and labor takeoffs, preparing proposals, and managing bid opportunities from initial review through submission. We are looking for someone who understands construction, pays attention to the details, and can manage multiple deadlines without letting things fall through the cracks. Responsibilities Review construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents Perform accurate quantity, material, and labor takeoffs Prepare commercial fence, gate, and access control estimates Determine labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs Request and review vendor and subcontractor pricing Identify project requirements, exclusions, alternates, and potential issues before bidding Prepare clear, complete, and competitive proposals Track bid invitations, deadlines, addenda, and submitted proposals Manage bidding portals and general contractor invitations Communicate with general contractors regarding plans, specifications, bid requirements, and clarifications Actively identify and pursue new commercial bid opportunities with general contractors, municipalities, schools, industrial facilities, and other commercial customers Maintain an organized bid pipeline and follow up on outstanding bids Maintain accurate estimating records and project information Assist with project handoff after award What We Are Looking For Construction estimating or commercial construction experience preferred Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications Strong math and analytical skills Detail-oriented and organized Comfortable working with computers, estimating software, spreadsheets, and online bid portals Able to manage multiple bids and deadlines at the same time Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated and able to work independently Fence industry experience is a plus, but not required What Success Looks Like Success in this position means maintaining a consistent volume of quality bids, meeting every bid deadline, following up on submitted proposals, developing relationships with general contractors, and helping turn estimating opportunities into awarded projects. You consistently produce accurate, complete, and competitive bids on time, catch details before they become problems, and keep the bid pipeline organized.
