An Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bids for electrical construction projects. The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, performing material and labor takeoffs, obtaining supplier pricing, and developing competitive proposals while ensuring estimates meet project requirements and company margins.
Key Responsibilities:
Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents. Perform detailed material, equipment, and labor takeoffs. Prepare accurate estimates for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, controls, and other electrical installations. Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations. Develop labor-hour estimates, material costs, equipment costs, subcontractor costs, and project allowances. Analyze project requirements and identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks. Prepare competitive bids and proposals in accordance with project specifications and deadlines. Use estimating software, spreadsheets, and databases to maintain pricing and cost information. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent Strong working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. Strong communication and people skills Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record Ability to prepare a scope of work Experience with pricing, purchasing, negotiating, and preparing purchase orders for materials and equipment Experience reading and understanding drawings Detail-oriented Experienced in planning, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills Safe work or No work mindset; fully committed to safety and jobsite standards, policies, and processes Wate water experience
