Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator specializing in Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) projects to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive electrical cost estimates for complex wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring alignment with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, demonstrating proficiency in reviewing construction drawings, managing costs, and negotiating contracts. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects that support environmental sustainability and community development. Responsibilities Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications related to WWTP projects to develop precise estimates. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and other digital tools to compile cost data for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Prepare detailed cost proposals that include material costs, labor hours, equipment expenses, and contingency allowances while ensuring compliance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Conduct thorough material cost estimating and pricing analysis to ensure competitive yet profitable bids. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients through effective communication to clarify scope requirements and negotiate contractual terms. Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and during project execution to support cost control initiatives. Review construction drawings for electrical systems, ensuring adherence to electrical building codes and safety standards. Utilize Bluebeam for digital markup of drawings and documentation review processes. Apply knowledge of NFPA 70 compliance standards when assessing electrical system designs and estimating associated costs. Assist in developing project schedules and resource planning aligned with estimated budgets. Support contract negotiations by providing detailed estimates that reflect project scope accurately. Qualifications Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, particularly on wastewater treatment or similar infrastructure projects. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid; familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus. Extensive knowledge of electrical blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and construction drawing review. In-depth understanding of electrical systems design, electrical building codes, NEC standards, and NFPA 70 compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability in negotiation, contract management, and client communication. Skilled in cost management techniques including material cost estimating, cost control strategies, and budgeting for construction projects. Experience with Microsoft Office suite for documentation and reporting purposes. Construction site experience coupled with construction management knowledge enhances estimation accuracy. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics accurately while considering safety standards. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in preparing comprehensive estimates. Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external clients.
