In addition to traditional fencing, we specialize in automated gates, access control systems, and perimeter security solutions. We're building a team of dependable, detail-oriented professionals who take pride in quality work and customer satisfaction. Position Overview We are seeking an Access Control Estimator to lead our access control division by preparing accurate bids and proposals for commercial and high-end residential projects, which includes new construction, retrofits, and large scale repairs. This role focuses on reviewing project scope, performing takeoffs, building line-item estimates, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams to ensure pricing is accurate and ready for production. This is an office + project-scope role with strong growth potential as we expand our access control division. Key Responsibilities Review plans, specs, drawings, and scope of work for access control and automated gate projects Take off materials and labor estimates (gate operators, access control hardware, readers/keypads, intercoms, vehicle detection, safety devices, wiring, conduit, and mounting hardware) Build itemized bids including BOMs, quantities, and allowances where needed Request and compare vendor pricing; maintain pricing sheets and cost tracking Determine scope requirements and clarify questions with customers, architects/GCs, and internal PM/field teams Collaborate with project managers and installation crews to ensure estimates align with real-world conditions Prepare proposals, bid packages, and supporting documentation for submission Assist with procurement planning by forecasting parts/material needs for upcoming jobs Maintain organized estimating records for future reference and revisions Qualifications Estimating experience in access control, gates, fencing, low-voltage systems, or related fields (preferred) Strong understanding of low-voltage/access control components, automated gate systems, operators, and hardware Ability to read plans, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals Proficiency with estimating tools and/or spreadsheets (Excel preferred) Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple bids at once Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate cross-functionally Driver's license Preferred (Not Required) Experience with brands such as LiftMaster, DoorKing, FAAC, HySecurity, etc. Familiarity with commercial access control systems and perimeter security scope Low-voltage certifications or electrical/mechanical troubleshooting knowledge Experience estimating gate automation and access control projects Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay (based on experience) + Commission Overtime opportunities 401(k) with matching Health insurance Paid time off + paid holidays Opportunities for advancement as we grow Why Join Piedmont Fence?
